  1. Fuzzy Bunnies

    February 18, 2004 by raspberryvixen

My ire has been contained to the point as to where it’s not boiling over…let’s see if it lasts through rush-hour. I doubt it. I have already had one customer piss me off SEVERELY…due to their own stupidity. Is it just me, or is the normal class of human-folk just getting DUMBER?

I spent last night (in between screaming at the TV because the Flyers were just getting mauled…AGAIN…) with my arm in the big fish tank, installing yet ANOTHER filter. I was not about to put up with an extremely LOUD filter hanging from my tank. I don’t need any more distractions when I’m at home, relaxing in front of my TV.

We bought a Fluval 4 Plus in-tank filter. VERY easy to set up and clean when the need arises. It’s quiet. Although it does toss the food around in the water flow…but the fish seem to enjoy the chase. It also has an indicator that lets you know when you need to change the filter media. Very nice for the lazy-ass in me!

One more hour to go. No boss. Time for a nic break.

  2. 12 Is An Unlucky Number.

    February 18, 2004 by raspberryvixen

SO NOT A HAPPY DAY. TODAY IS A VERY ANGRY DAY. TODAY IS A GOD-FORBID-I-LOSE-AT-POOL-TONIGHT-I’LL-BREAK-MY-STICK KINDA DAY.

THIS isn’t the only reason I’m in a black mood…it’s just one of the many.

I don’t want to go to pool tonight and deal with all the people. I don’t want to deal with the fact that right now my Flyers SUCK ASS and can’t pull a win out of their collective asses and that Sean Burke SHOULD NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BE STARTING IN GOAL WHEN WE HAVE A HOT GOALTENDER IN ANTERO NIITYMAKI. I don’t want to deal with the fact that Bonzai won’t be in a Capitals jersey any more. I don’t want to deal with the fact that Gonchar, Kolzig and possibly Lang are next on the chopping block. I don’t want to deal with my job or my boss or my car or wedding plans or……

    Anything.

Think happy thoughts. Think happy thoughts.

    THINK FRICKIN’ HAPPY THOUGHTS.

    It’s not working.

  3. Simply The Best.

Warning: Pictures and mushyiness ahead. You may want to go elsewhere…

It was an absolutely MARVELOUS Valentine’s weekend.

I got out of work on Friday and made it home in good time. I barely missed getting caught in a speed trap about five minutes from my home…the cops pulled over the two cars ahead of me and let me go! I wasn’t speeding all that much, in fact, they had been there on Thursday night, so I was already prepared for them to be there. My heart still got all funky when they pulled over the people in front of me, though!

Got home to find the boy all giggly. He made me go into our office and there I found a dozen long stemmed red roses waiting for me on my chair. He then made me stay in the office while he finished wrapping up my Valentine’s present.  He gave it to me when he was done and I told him I would wait until Valentine’s Day to open it.  He laid it on the coffee table and headed out to Quizno’s to pick us up some dinner.  I stayed back in the office and did some computer work…mostly to keep myself from the temptation of opening my present.

After dinner, the temptation was just too great to handle.  He let me open the present, all the while sitting next to me with this huge smile on his face.  As I opened the box, I found out why.

He had gotten me a beautiful Boyds Bear snow globe of a bride and a groom standing on a wedding cake.  I was in tears by the time I got it out of the box.  There was no more thoughtful gift he could have gotten me.  My hands were shaking and I was just so touched by the gift.  And the beautiful card he got me just sealed the deal…I am in love with the most wonderful man on the planet!

Saturday we got up early as we were off to That Fish Place out in Lancaster.  As usual, our best intentions of getting on the road early were marred by an overly long stop at the gas station/convenience store…not to mention the fact, I had forgotten to take the roses out of their packaging and put them into a vase, so I had to do that before we even left the house.  We finally got to the store and had only 45 minutes to shop. I wanted to be home by 3 to see the Flyers/Rangers game.

Well, the 45 minutes went by fast. We trundled through the lizard room first and drooled over some of the critters. Then we hit the cat aisle and bought a hot pink collar for Bailey and some toys for the girls. Then we wandered around the fish filters and stuff for a bit. The boy informed me that it was already 1:15 and we hadn’t even been to see the fish! A quick round through all the aisles of tanks and we were on our way home. Got home halfway through the first period of the game…the Flyers ended up mauling the Rangers. Since both the Flyers and Avalanche were playing at 3 and the Caps weren’t playing until Sunday, I watched Thursday night’s Flyers game that I had taped, then the boy and I watched COPS. It was an early night.

Sunday…NASCAR! YAY! Flipped back and forth between the race and the Caps game while doing laundry and cleaning. Cooked us a nice ham dinner with all the trimmings, so now we have tons of leftovers. A good finish to a very nice weekend.

Today, well, I’m just staying out of the boss’s way, as he’s not in a good mood. He’s leaving early, which puts a bit of a dent in our plans tonight, but no biggie. The boy and I are off to find a new mattress tonight. Fun fun!

  4. Ca-CHING!

    February 13, 2004 by raspberryvixen

Happiness is checking your bank account online and finding your Federal income tax refund has been DEPOSITED EARLIER THAN EXPECTED.

Fuckin’ A. This makes for a GREAT weekend! Looks like tomorrow may not be a nice quiet day at home with the boy after all!

WOOHOO! What a way to start the weekend!

  5. The Day Before The Holiday That Men Hate To Name.

    February 13, 2004 by raspberryvixen

Not only is it Friday the 13th, it’s the day before VALENTINE’S DAY. I can hear the men running screaming from the room now.

My plans include a nice, quiet day at home with the boy. I’ll make us a nice dinner and we will work it off later in as many ways as we
    can think of.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend. I’m planning on it

  6. Wheeling And Dealing.

    February 9, 2004 by raspberryvixen

    And so it begins.

Flyers deal Weinrich to the St. Louis Blues.

No biggie there.  Except for the fact that our d-men are DROPPING LIKE FLIES!

And yes, I actually DO feel sorry for Jeff Hackett. He’s retiring due to his health problems AND the fact that he doesn’t want to be the odd man out in the goaltender situation. His retirement frees up the Flyers to go after Sean Burke.

You know what? As long as Clarke doesn’t give up any more of our young talent, I’ll be happy. Rumors have Mike Comrie going to Phoenix in exchange for Burke, and Dennis Seidenberg’s name has been bandied about, as well. They can have Comrie, but if Clarke trades Seidenberg, so help me, I’ll find Clarke and…

Ok, I’m calm now. *deep breath*

Less than a month left until the trade deadline.

    Somebody hold me. I’m scared.

  7. Here Fishie, Fishie, Fishie.

    February 9, 2004 by raspberryvixen

Another weekend gone past and I have no idea where the hell it went. I feel like I never left the office on Friday…

It was a nice weekend, albeit WAY too fast. Friday night was a pizza and relaxing kind of night. No hockey on, due to the All-Star break, so I watch a game that I had taped on Thursday night.

Saturday, we went out to Ruby Tuesday’s and had a very nice lunch, then did some shopping. The boy bought me two new CD’s…Korn’s new one and Staind’s latest. Then we went over to PetSmart.

We ended up buying a new filter for our big tank. We had plans to get the tank vacuumed up over the weekend and decided that we wanted an easier filter to take care of. So we found an over the tank type filter at a decent price and decided to go with it. The tank is 44 gallons, but we don’t have any big fish, so it should be good enough. When the tiger oscar we got a month ago gets to big boy stage, then we’ll go back to using a canister filter.

    Or so we thought…

Got the tank vacuumed out with no big problem. The problem came when I went to unhook the canister filter and get it out of the way. I accidentally pulled the wrong hose and got SOAKED. Water came gushing out and made a big puddle on the floor in front of me. I was wet from the top of my head to my waist. I managed to get the tube back to where it should be and sopped up all the mess, cursing the entire time.

I got the old filter out and left it in the kitchen sink. Put the new filter together, plugged it in and got it running.

AND IT IS LOUD. VERY LOUD.

Not mechanical loud, but water trickling loud. Very annoying. The manual says it needs 24-48 hours to break in. It’s got until next Saturday and then it goes back to the store.

Why next Saturday? Because we’re going here and we’re going to buy a new canister filter to replace/upgrade the one we’ve got. Especially since I broke one of the clips that holds it together when I took it apart to clean it to put it in storage. Then the other filter is getting returned. I’m also going to find out if I can find a replacement clip for the filter…if I can, I’m putting the filter up on eBay.

Sunday went by in the blink of an eye. I watched the NHL All-Star game, and that’s about all I did. Hell, I even slept through a good chunk of the game because I wasn’t feeling too well. Did a bit of laundry, but nothing too strenuous. Tried to get to bed early, but the boy was in a mood, so we didn’t get to bed ’til almost 1 AM.

Now I need to go and score me some lunch.
