  1. Take That!

    June 24, 2004 by raspberryvixen

    In 8-ball, I’m ranked a 3.

    I beat a 7 tonight.

That is all. It’s time for bed.

  2. Bertuzzi Charged.

    June 24, 2004 by raspberryvixen

Todd Bertuzzi’s been charged with assault causing bodily harm for his unwarrented attack on Steve Moore of the Colorado Avalanche, back on March 8.

    And to this I say…

    GOOD.

It’s shit like what Bertuzzi did that gives hockey its bad reputation. Fighting is a part of hockey, certainly. But this was not fighting.

Due to Moore’s CLEAN hit on the Canucks captain Markus Naslund in a previous game, a “bounty” had been put on Moore’s head by some players in the Canucks’ organization. What this was was a cowardly, unwarrented, unnecessary and deliberately brutal attack FROM BEHIND on a defenseless skater, that’s left him with a broken neck, stretched nerves, severe post-concussion syndrome and memory loss, along with an ever-present question…

Will Steve Moore ever be able to play hockey again?

Bertuzzi lost half a million bucks in pay. The Canucks were ordered to pay a fine of $250,000. Bertuzzi may be able to play again if the league decides on it.

Small consolation to Steve Moore, who is facing the unknown.

Frankly, I hope Bertuzzi gets convicted. Maybe then the message might get through.

Shit like that doesn’t belong in hockey. It doesn’t belong in ANY sport.

  3. We Gotta Get Outta This Place.

    June 24, 2004 by raspberryvixen

Thanks to the lovely Linda for the kind words yesterday. You’ve been linked…I hope you don’t mind! :D

My mouth is feeling MUCH better. The pain was so intense last night, one of my pool shooters came over to me and said, “You look so serious! You look like you’re ready to fight someone!” I explained to him what was going on…and by that time, the pain in my jaw had also migrated up into my ear. He also then got a look at my face and saw that it was swollen.

We ended up winning last night. I lost the first match, Shady won the second match 19-1. We then lost the third match, but turned around the fourth match with another 19-1 win. The other team didn’t have a fifth player, so we got a free 15 points, while they got none, for the fifth match. It was a nice, solid win last night. We’ve only got a few more weeks to go and we’re in third place right now.

When your eggs are done perfectly, all is right with the world.

I need to do something different this weekend. I don’t know what. I don’t know where. But I’m bored and restless and it’s driving me crazy. If Wildwood weren’t so damn far away, I’d drag the boy off to the beach for the day. Yes, I didn’t say Ocean City, even though I’m a Marylander. My preference is for the Jersey Shores. Two months until vacation!

    My. Mouth. Frippin’.

    HURTS.

    Damnit.

  5. 25 More To Go.

    June 23, 2004 by raspberryvixen

Had my annual poke and prod visit yesterday afternoon. According to their chart, I’m down 13 pounds from my last annual exam. Tack on the weight I gained last year and that makes 24 pounds lost total. Not too shabby. And I get to eat all the meat I want.

The right side of my face from my jawline up to my cheekbone is swollen. I’ve got an infection in my gums in the back bottom half of my mouth. Not a pretty sight. Even my ear hurts. Don’t even think about touching my cheek!

Not much going on at work. I’ve got a billing form to typeset for a local veterinary clinic and a few price quotes, but that’s about it. Maybe one of these days I should contemplate getting our order processing terminal online and working so that we can start doing our invoicing by computer again.

Boss is leaving early today to go have apheresis done. No, thank you. As much as I’d love to help society by donating blood, it just ain’t happening.

I’m heading straight to the bar after work. The boy’s mom is in the hospital, so he’s going to go visit her after he gets off from work. She’s been in the hospital since Monday and the doctors haven’t yet figured out what’s wrong with her.

I asked the boy last night when we were going to take a trip. Frankly, I just want to get out somewhere…ANYWHERE…that’s not HERE.

    His reply?

    “A mountain?”

I smiled and nodded. I just need a break. I think the cats can fend for themselves for a night.

  6. All We Need Is Just A Little Patience.

    June 21, 2004 by raspberryvixen

Sitting here at work waiting for some stuff to upload to my webserver. I’ve got 99.99985% of my design work done for the day. Not even 2 o’clock and I am so ready to hit the road. Plus, my back hurts.

Downloaded and added a little php plugin for the random quote generator so I could get rid of the javascript that I was using for it. Super duper simple to install, even for me. You can get it HERE.

My back is bugging the hell out of me today. I think it’s finally decided that this chair needs to be replaced. Right now, even my knees hurt from sitting down. Guess it’s time to talk to the boss about replacing the thing.

Well, the first two rolls of film from my new camera are out in the mail. I can’t wait to see the pictures once they’re done. I’ve got such high hopes for this camera…I hope it doesn’t disappoint!

  7. The End Of An Era.

    June 20, 2004 by raspberryvixen

Had a very nice weekend…even though it’s not yet officially over. The boy’s out front watching TV and I’m back at my computer, nursing a bit of a headache. The poor boy starts mandatory 5 am’s tomorrow. To say he’s not happy is a bit of an understatement.

Friday, I got home and paid some bills and cleaned up the apartment a bit. The boy wasn’t feeling well, so he was in bed by 10 o’clock. Of course, I stayed up on my computer until almost 1 am. Even though I had to get up early.

Saturday, the alarm went off at 9. I got up and the boy decided he was feeling well enough to make the trip up to see my folks. We had a very nice time. Took the Mothership shopping at Tarjhet, went over to A.C. Moore’s and PetSmart. I managed to keep my spending controlled. Go, me!

We got back to the house. Dad was cooking and boy, was he on a tear! We had mushroom caps stuffed with crab meat, bacon bits and parmesean cheese for appetizers. Then he grilled me up a hot dog, as I’ve been craving a grilled doggie all damn week, for some odd reason. We then had shrimp…one batch marinated in Lousiana red pepper sauce and another batch marinated in a Thai ginger sauce. Our main course was grilled salmon, along with a nice piece of stripped that he steamed in an aluminum foil bag. My Dad has become one hell of an excellent cook.

We hung out, watched Cops, shot the shit and then got our stuff together to get ready to leave. Mom and I are standing in the kitchen talking when Dad walked in, holding something.

“He’s not coming back,” he said, handing me his Flyers jersey with John LeClair’s name and number on it. My eyes bugged out as I took the jersey from him…I couldn’t believe he was giving me his jersey…his ONLY Flyers jersey! He also gave the boy his other John LeClair t-shirt.

I was still in shock when the boy and I got into the car after saying our good-byes, and I told him this as we drove off. I didn’t want to say anything in front of my Dad, plus, I’m not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

“If he were any kind of Flyers fan, he’d still wear the jersey, even if LeClair doesn’t come back. Which is probably what’s going to happen.”

Of course, the boy in all his infinite wisdom pointed out to me that my Dad will probably buy another jersey whenever the next season is.

Maybe not. He’s not like me. I wear my jersey out in public, not just to games, like my Dad does. He’s not renewing his season tickets…that I can understand. It’s gotten hard for him to get to the games and he rarely is able to get the Saturday games. But giving up his jersey?

    Ugh.

ANYway…had a nice relaxing day today. Did laundry, watched NASCAR, played on the computer, tidied up a bit. Called Dad and wished him a Happy Father’s Day. Paid more bills. Got stuff together to take to work with me tomorrow. All the usual crap, don’tcha know!

I’ve also gotten two rolls of film together to go out in tomorrow’s mail, just so I can see exactly how my new camera is working. I can’t wait to get them back.

And now, it’s time for me to get ready for bed. ‘Nite!

  8. It’s Hip To Be Square.

    June 18, 2004 by raspberryvixen

Square watermelons. Who woulda thunk it?

To quote Beavis, “That is just the coolest thing I have ever seen.”
