I Can Has?

Greetings!

Indebted.

In our never-ending quest to eliminate credit card debt, it’s so VERY NICE to see something like this when I log on to one of our credit card accounts online:

ACCOUNT SUMMARY (June 12, 2007 – June 25, 2007)
Current Balance $0.00
Minimum Payment Due $0.00
Payment Due Date 7/7/2007
Last Statement Balance $541.72
Payments & Credits $541.72

That makes me SO HAPPY. To see a zero balance makes me smile. To know that we’re FINALLY able to take control of our credit card debt, even if it’s in a small way…well, it makes me feel better about the way things are going. The extra money that I’m bringing in has helped to make all of this possible, and I’m enjoying it, so that makes it even better.

In today’s mail was a letter from Credit One Bank, pretty much repeating everything the customer service rep had said to me on the phone when I’d called to cancel the card last week. I feel SO MUCH BETTER now that that card is canceled…the fees were ridiculous, and I just had that card in an attempt to make my craptastic credit better.

I always love it when the customer service reps ask me why I want to close the account.

“Your interest rate/fees are nuts.”
“But we’re helping you to rebuild your credit.”
“Then stop charging me all the fees.”
“It helps to offset all the costs for the administrative stuff.”
“Bull. I have other cards that are ten times better than yours, and none of them have an annual fee. Care to explain that?”
“Uh…well…”
“I though so.”

I’m just waiting for the money to transfer over to my ING account so I can then transfer over one more credit card’s balance over to my checking account to pay off.

I love saying that. I’M PAYING OFF MY CREDIT CARDS, MOM!

Now, lend me the down payment for a house. Kthx. ;-)
