Say Hello To My New Best Friend.

Bacon, as much as I love eating it, is the one food that I absolutely DESPISE cooking. It’s messy as all get out, and nine times out of ten, when I’m frying it up in a pan, I end up burning myself because of the hot bacon fat spitting up from my frying pan.

Baking bacon takes FOREVER. When it comes to food, I’m an impatient cook sometimes. I like to toss stuff into the microwave to cook it quickly. Usually I just toss some into the microwave to cook for myself, but that also makes an icky mess.  Bacon fat splattered all over the top and sides of the microwave, and numerous paper towels wasted because I’ve got to sop up all of that icky grease.

Then there’s the fact that hubby likes his bacon cooked to a blackened crisp, and I like my bacon still floppy.

Mmmm. Bacon. As a matter of fact, this is the ONLY bacon that I will cook with. Kunzler’s black pepper bacon. This is the most delicious bacon I’ve ever cooked with. Nothing else compares.

Say hello to my new best friend…what I like to refer to as THE BACONATER (my apologies to Wendy’s Restaurants), also known as the CrispyClean® Bacon Broiler. This is the only totally enclosed microwave bacon cooker on the market that we know of. You know what that means, right?

NO SPLATTER. No fat burns. YAY!  The bacon gets cooked INSIDE the enclosed unit, and all the fat collects in the bottom!

The CrispyClean® Bacon Broiler is super easy to use. You just lay six (or however many you want) slices of bacon over top of the splines, then you lock the thing into the lid. You put all of that into the bottom cup, lock it shut, and then shove it in the microwave for the appropriate amount of time as per the directions. Since this was an 11 slice slab of bacon, it was 45 seconds per piece.

MMMM!! Still floppy bacon, just the way I like, and all this in less than five minutes. AND NO BURNED CLEAVAGE.

After you pull the lid off of the cup to put your bacon onto a plate, you’re left with a cup full of icky bacon fat. You know, the crap that burns you? Not anymore! Just pour it into an empty can or bottle, let it harden into all its fatty glory, and toss it in the garbage can.
